Let's not ~ / I'm sorry about ~

1. Let's not ~ (~하지 말자)

 

누군가와 함께 할 수 있는 일에 대해 제안할 때 Let's ~ 라는 표현을 쓰죠. Let's not~ 은 Let's 의 부정형으로 둘다 상대방이 동의할 거라는 전제하에 꺼내는 말이라 상당히 단호한 어투의 제안이라고 할 수 있습니다.

 

■ 예시

A: I can hardly believe they acted like that.
B: Neither do I. I think they didn't want to be here.
A: Let's not invite them again.
B: I agree with you. It'll be more fun without them.

 

■ 예문

Let's not remodel our house.	우리 집을 개조하지 말자.
Let's not get together this month.	이번 달에는 모이지 말자.
Let's not turn the balcony light on.	발코니의 불을 켜지 말자.
Let's not eat late at night.	밤늦게 먹지 말자.

2. I'm sorry about ~ (~해서 죄송해요)

 

안 좋은 일이 생겨서 상대방을 위로하고 싶을 때, 실수나 잘못된 행동에 대해 사과할 때 쓰는 표현입니다. about 뒤에는 명사나 동사의 -ing 형태를 넣는 것을 기억하세요.

A: I'm sorry about the noise last night.
B: You know the music was too loud.
A: It won't happen again.
B: Alright. And I'm sure I won't put up with it again.
