1. If you don't mind, I'd like to ~ (괜찮으면 ~하고 싶어요)

 

내가 하려는 일에 대해 상대방이 반대하지 않는지 확인하거나 허락을 구할 때 사용하는 패턴입니다. 상대방의 양해가 필요하거나 다른사람에게 뭔가를 해 달라고 정중히 요청할 때도 많이 쓰죠.

 

■ 예시

A: If you don't mind, I'd like to drive tonight.
B: Okay. What time will you pick me up them?
A: How about 7 p.m.? Let's have dinner first.
B: That's great. I love your plan.

 

■ 예문

If you don't mind, I'd like to go back home.	괜찮으면 집에 돌아가고 싶어요.
If you don't mind, I'd like to skip this course.	괜찮으면 이 과정을 건너뛰고 싶어요.
If you don't mind, I'd like to resign from my new position.	괜찮으면 새 직위는 그만두고 싶어요.

2.  If there's anything ~ (~이 있다면)

 

추후에 발생할 수 있는 일이나 처리해야 할 문제에 대해 상대방을 안심시킬 때 쓰는 표현이에요. 문제가 생기거나 상황이 달라질 경우에 상대방이 어떻게 행동하면 좋을지를 알려 주는 거죠.

 

■ 예시

A: Are you shopping for groceries this weekend?
B: Yes, I am.
A: That's good. Will you do me a favor, honey?
B: Sure. If there's anything you need from the store, write it down.

 

■ 예문

If there's anything he forgot, let him know.	그가 잊은게 있다면 그에게 알려주세요.
If there's anything I should bring, pleae tell me.	내가 가져와야 하는 게 있다면 나에게 말해주세요.
